About Sheryl Sieracki

Sheryl SierackiWhen someone asks me what I do, I love being able to say, “I save lives.” Because that’s what I do—story by story, memory by memory. Not only does a legacy book save a life by preserving it for others to discover, but the very act of engaging in life review has powerful healing benefits, including increased psychological well-being and satisfaction with life, and decreased depression, fear, stress, and anxiety. I can see the effects in my clients. When I arrive for an interview session, they may be having a difficult day, feeling tired, achy, or just plain blah. But after a few minutes of reminiscing about being a young child, or running a business, or falling in love, they’re smiling, laughing, animated. They feel good.

I believe that everyone has a unique story to tell, and I am passionate about helping people tell theirs before the memories fade. I bring my thirty-five years of experience in interviewing, writing, editing, and project management to create a richly rewarding experience for my clients and a family heirloom for future generations. Clients trust me with their highly personal memories and reflections, and I honor that trust by conducting business professionally, respectfully, and ethically.

I was greatly impressed by Sheryl’s interviewing skills. Her calm, patient manner put my 99-year-old mother at ease and helped tease out her memories, and Sheryl gently guided her back on track whenever she became confused. Sheryl was even able to elicit stories I had never heard before—and now my children and future grandchildren can hear them too. I only wish we had done this years ago when my mother was in better health.
